MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517056879 A) filed by Universidad De Granada, Granada, Spain, on June 13, for 'aerobic granular bioreactor.'
Inventor(s) include Gonzalez Martinez, Alejandro; Gonzalez Lopez, Jesus Juan; and Rosa Masegosa, Aurora.
The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention describes a bioreactor and continuous flow process for water treatment and biomass production where the bioreactor comprises a tank (2) with an inlet (5) and an outlet (6), an aeration medium (7) and, in addition, a deflector medium (13) configured to extract clarified water and prevent the leakage of granular biomass (11) with at least a decanting speed of 10 m/h comprising a hollow main body (14) with a first entry (15), located at its bottom, configured to allow the entry of aqueous fluid (9) and return the granular biomass (11) to the tank (2), a second opening (16), located on the side, connected to the outlet (6) of the tank (2), and a third opening (17), located at the top, configured to allow the exit of air bubbles (10)."
The patent application was internationally filed on Nov. 15, 2023, under International application No.PCT/EP2023/081940.
