MUMBAI, India, Aug. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411006926 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 1, 2024, for 'adjustable shielding device for construction workers.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Bhawna Tandon; Dr. Pooja Sahni; Dr. Saurabh Chaitanya; Shivam Pandey; Rohit Singh; Ritwika Raj; and Mohamed Kaif.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 8, under issue no. 32/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An adjustable shielding device for construction workers comprises of a frame 1 having a wearable unit 2 developed to be worn by a user on the user's back while the user works at a construction site and arranged with an extendable curved first plate 3 for providing a protective covering at the user's back portion, an imaging unit 10 to determine dimensions of the user body, an extendable curved second plate 4 to extend/retract for stably orienting the second plate 4 overhead portion of the user, an ultrasonic sensor for monitoring any object falling over the user, an inverted V-shaped structure 6 to get deployed, motorized to provide angular tilting movement of the structure 6, impact sensors for monitoring impact of collision on the frame 1, and motorized rollers 7 coiled with a looped strap 8 to properly affix the frame 1 on the user's body."
