MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411018190 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on March 13, 2024, for 'adjustable gear knob operating assistive device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An adjustable gear knob operating assistive device, comprises of a cylindrical frame 1 developed to be positioned to be on gear knob of a four-wheeler, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 2 to determine dimensions of the gear knob, plurality of telescopically operated links 3 to establish a cover over the knob, a motorized sliding unit 4 for translating multiple vertical plates 5 in order to accommodate each of the user's fingers, plurality of motorized clippers 6 for tightening the gear knob, a motorized circular slider 7 for translating the clippers 6 6 along the slider 7 in order to rotate the knob, a speaker 8 to produce audio notification regarding suggestion for change in gear for smoothly driving of the four-wheeler."
