MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411005477 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 27, 2024, for 'adjustable facial mask supporting device.'

Inventor(s) include Manbir Brar; Bhupinder Kaur; and Sajjan Singh.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 1, under issue no. 31/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An adjustable facial mask supporting device, comprising a frame 1 over which a mask is engaged, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 2 determines dimensions of mouth portion and accordingly plurality of telescopically operated links 3 integrated on frame 1 extends, an electromagnetically powered springs 4 each attached with a motorized clipper 5 for engaging straps of mask, plurality of motorized tweezers 6 arranged on peripheral portion of frame 1 to grip mask, an ultrasonic sensor integrated on frame 1 for monitoring distance between frame 1 and mouth portion and if found to be inappropriate then springs 4 expand/contract to maintain optimum gapping between mouth portion and frame 1, a moisture sensor monitors moisture level of mask and if found to be inappropriate then springs 4 are expanded, a thermal imaging unit 7 for monitoring strain developed in ear portion and springs 4 gets expanded to prevent pain and discomfort."
