MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411022893 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 23, 2024, for 'adjustable drowning prevention device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An adjustable drowning prevention device, comprising a wearable component 1 developed to be worn on a user's wrist/ankle, a strap 2 coiled on a motorized roller 3for securing the component 1 on the user's wrist/ankle, a motorized roller 3integrated at back portion of the component 1 to rotate for tightening/loosening the strap 2, an AI-based imaging unit 4 installed on the component 1 and integrated with a processor for capturing and processing multiple images in vicinity of the component 1 and a multi-sectioned inflatable sheet 5 arranged on the component 1 to get inflated in a regular manner for providing a partial support to the user in swimming."
