MUMBAI, India, Aug. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411006933 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 1, 2024, for 'adjustable drilling device for edge surface.'

Inventor(s) include Rachna Manchanda; Dr. Deepak Dadwal; Dr. Rajdeep Singh; Prateek Ranjan; Saumil Aggarwal; Neha; and Mahak Garg.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An adjustable drilling device for edge surface, comprising a frame 1 positioned on an edge portion of surface whose thickness is detected by a laser sensor, a motorized sliding arrangement 3 translates two columns 4 for accommodating surface between columns 4, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 5 generates a 3D map of edge portion that is displayed on a touch interactive display paned to allow user to specify area along with size of hole, two high torque DC electric motor rotate columns 4, a motorized iris lid 7 arranged on frame 1 opens for exposing a slot crafted on frame 1 in which a robotic gripper 8 mapped on the frame 1, inserts a drilling unit 10 stored in a cylindrical-shaped holder 9 assembled on frame 1 and a push button is pressed by gripper 8 for drilling a user specified sized hole on user specified portion."
