MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411012455 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 21, 2024, for 'adjustable cutting device for fixed surfaces.'

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An adjustable cutting device for fixed surfaces encompasses a rectangular frame 1 placed with multiple suction cups 2 secure the frame 1 on a surface, a laser sensor determines surface orientation, multiple motorized hinges within frame 1 adjust its shape for precise alignment of frame 1 over surface, a computing unit allows user to input desired cut length, a sliding unit 3 on frame 1 moves a hemispherical member 4 back and forth over surface, an ultrasonic sensor detects distance between member 4 and surface, pair of bars 5 position in-between member 4 and frame 1 extend to position a cutter 6 inside member 4 as cutter 6 is activated to cut specified portion as member 4 moves, a temperature sensor on member 4 monitors temperature of cutter 6 and an electronic nozzle 7 connected to a water reservoir 8 dispenses water onto the cutter 6, ensuring cooling during operation."
