MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411012452 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 21, 2024, for 'adjustable cable drum handling assistive device.'

Inventor(s) include Tanu Dhiman.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An adjustable cable drum handling assistive device comprising a frame 1 having a pair of mounting units 2 developed to be arranged on a ground surface, an imaging unit 3 determine the dimensions of a cable drum, a pair of rods 4 arranged in between mounting units 2 to extend/retract for expanding/retracting dimensions of frame 1, an inclined ramp 5 is arranged on front portion of frame 1 that is accessed by a user for mounting a cable drum on the frame 1 via ramp 5, an elongated groove 6 crafted on mounting units 2 for securely accommodating discs of drum, a communication module establishes a wireless connection to be accessed by user for providing input regarding wrapping/unwrapping of a particular length of cable coiled on drum, a motorized roller 7 rotates in a direction for unwrapping/wrapping cable, an ultrasonic sensor monitors length of wrapped/unwrapped cable."
