MUMBAI, India, Nov. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411026140 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on March 29, 2024, for 'adjustable bathing assistive device for bathtubs.'

Inventor(s) include Rajinder Kumar; Dr. Chhinder Kaur; Rahul Khurana; and Vishal Barwal.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 28, under issue no. 48/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An adjustable bathing assistive device for bathtubs comprises a plate 1 developed to be installed in lateral wall of the bathtub, integrated with an ultrasonic sensor for monitoring dimensions and curvature of lateral wall of bathtub, plurality of motorized hinges 2 to tilt portions of the plate 1, plurality of buttons for acquiring a support while bathing, a sensing module for monitoring distance along with angle of user's body part, a flap 3 arranged by means of a pair of motorized sliding units 4 to translate flap 3 along sliding units 4, a pair of motorized hinge joints 5 to tilt flap 3, a laser measurement sensor for monitoring curvature of user's body part, multiple motorized hinges 2 to tilt portions of flap 3, a pair of motorized grippers 6 to extend/retract and plurality of suction units 7 for adhering plate 1 on surface of bathtub."
