MUMBAI, India, Aug. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411006917 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 1, 2024, for 'adjustable barricading device for railway crossing.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Dinesh; Dr. Ruchi Singla; Dr. Amresh Kumar; and Dr. Parveen Singla.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 8, under issue no. 32/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An adjustable barricading device for railway crossing, comprising a cylindrical shaped body 1 positioned on ground surface near railway crossing, a communication module paired with device for establishing a wireless connection between device and railway authority's server, wherein upon receiving alert notification regarding positioning of a train approaching crossing along with distance between train and crossing and in case the fetched distance recedes a threshold limit then two hinge joint 4 deploys two C-shaped members 3 away from body 1, an artificial intelligence based imaging unit 5 determines space between body 1 and boundaries of crossing, a motorized sliding unit 6 deploys multiple links 7 to properly barricade crossing, an ultrasonic sensor detects height of trespasser present near crossing, and multiple pneumatic pins 9 mapped with links 7 which get extended to increase height of barricading thereby preventing risk of trespassing barricading."
