MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411014285 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 27, 2024, for 'adhesive tape application assistive device.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Jasminal Kaur; Manisha Aujla; and Khushbu Sharma.
The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An adhesive tape application assistive device, comprising a cuboidal body 1 carved with a slot 3 to accommodate spool of an adhesive tape, a laser sensor detects dimensions of spool, tow plates 4 are translated by respective motorized sliders to firmly grip spool, a set of motorized omnidirectional wheels 5 rotate spool on its axis, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 6 detects free-end of spool, a microphone 7 accessed by user to give voice commands for applying tape on a fixed surface, two motorized hinges 8 tilt plates 4 as per angle of surface as detected by an angle sensor, a telescopically operated gripper 9 grips free-end and applies on fixed surface, a speaker 10 notifies user to maneuver body 1 along fixed surface, a cylindrical member 11 positioned on tape by an L-shaped telescopically operated link 12 for applying a pressure for appropriately adhering tape on fixed surface."
