MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641048821 A) filed by Dr. T. Thimmaiah Institute Of Technology, Kolar Gold Fields, Karnataka, on April 16, for 'adaptive multi-zone wireless power transfer system with intelligent load detection and dynamic power optimization for electric vehicle charging.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. B. Somashekar; Dr. Sridevi A; Mr. Pranav Raghavan CM; Ms. Shravani A Gowda; Mr. Srishanth KM; and Mr. Udayaraj KN.

The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an adaptive multi-zone wireless power transfer system for efficient and automated charging of electric vehicles using inductive coupling. The system comprises a plurality of transmitter coils arranged in multiple charging zones, a receiver coil integrated with an electric vehicle, and a control unit configured to detect vehicle presence and alignment. The system incorporates an intelligent load detection mechanism to determine real-time power requirements of the vehicle and selectively activate the appropriate charging zone, thereby minimizing idle power consumption and improving energy utilization. A dynamic power optimization module continuously adjusts operating parameters such as frequency and power level in response to variations in coil alignment and load conditions, ensuring efficient power transfer even under partial misalignment. The system further supports both static and dynamic wireless power transfer modes, enabling charging of stationary as well as moving vehicles through sequential activation of charging zones. A protection and monitoring unit ensures safe operation through overcurrent protection, thermal management, and automatic shutdown in the absence of a valid load. The modular and scalable architecture enables deployment in various environments including smart parking systems, transportation hubs, and industrial facilities. By integrating multi-zone activation, intelligent load detection, and dynamic power optimization, the invention provides an efficient, reliable, and contactless charging solution for next-generation electric vehicle applications."
