MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641049495 A) filed by Mallemula Venkata Yagnesh; Nallana Jatin; and Ms. M. Madhumathi, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on April 17, for 'adaptive multi-modal driver fatigue prevention system with personalized behavior learning and escalating alert response.'
Inventor(s) include Mallemula Venkata Yagnesh; Nallana Jatin; and Ms. M. Madhumathi.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an adaptive multi-modal driver fatigue prevention system configured to detect and prevent drowsiness-related driving incidents through personalized behavior learning and real-time sensor fusion. The system comprises a plurality of sensing modules configured to monitor driver eye activity, blink duration, eyelid closure frequency, head tilt, motion behavior, and driving duration. A processing unit receives the sensor data and employs a personalized behavior learning module to establish baseline patterns unique to an individual driver, including normal blink rate, posture range, and movement characteristics. A fatigue assessment engine compares real-time behavior with the learned baseline and generates a fatigue risk level based on multiple parameters such as prolonged eye closure, repeated nodding, abnormal posture changes, reduced activity, and continuous driving time. The system further incorporates a false alarm suppression mechanism configured to ignore temporary movements, road disturbances, and normal blinking events that do not indicate fatigue. An escalating alert response module provides progressive warnings according to fatigue severity, including audible alarms, vibration alerts, and wireless notifications to connected systems or emergency contacts. Upon restoration of normal driver behavior, the system automatically returns to monitoring mode. The invention provides a non-intrusive, adaptive, and real-time safety solution suitable for private vehicles, commercial fleets, and long-haul transportation, thereby reducing fatigue-related accidents and enhancing road safety."
