MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521131047 A) filed by Symbiosis International, Pune, Maharashtra, on Dec. 23, 2025, for 'adaptive image enhancement and human detection system for flooded environments.'
Inventor(s) include Mrs. Pallavi Utkarsh Nehete; Dr. Deepak S. Dharrao; Mrs. Madhuri Dharrao; and Dr. Anupkumar Bongale.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an adaptive image enhancement and human detection system (100) for flooded environments. The system (100) comprises an image acquisition unit (101) configured to capture flood scene images (102), an image preprocessing and enhancement module (103) implementing Retinex and Multi-Scale Retinex with Color Restoration (MSRCR) for adaptive illumination correction, and a deep learning-based object detection module (104) employing a trained YOLO-based neural network to detect human objects (105). An output interface (106) displays detected humans with bounding boxes and confidence scores in real time. The invention further discloses a method (200) for preprocessing, enhancing, and detecting humans under low-visibility and dynamically illuminated flood conditions. The system (100) is computationally efficient, deployable on edge devices and unmanned platforms, and enables reliable real-time support for search and rescue operations."
