MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511124958 A) filed by GLA University, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, on Dec. 11, 2025, for 'adaptive biomimetic hydraulic jump oxygenation device.'

Inventor(s) include Prashant Shukla; and Prof. Vijay Kumar Dwivedi.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an adaptive biomimetic hydraulic jump oxygenation device (100) for open channel flows. The device (100) comprises a support frame assembly (110) anchored to a channel bed (175), a plurality of biomimetic flow-modulating channels (130) defining eco-passage openings (135), adaptive shape-memory polymer components (140) configured to vary channel spacing, and a real-time monitoring system with at least one dissolved oxygen sensor (150), a microcontroller unit (155) and a communication module (160). By modulating turbulence and residence time in a hydraulic jump region (170) in response to sensed conditions, the present invention enhances dissolved oxygen levels while providing fauna-safe corridors and using eco-sustainable, abrasion-resistant materials suitable for retrofitting existing stilling basins or installing as modular units in rivers, canals or engineered waterways."
