MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641063605 A) filed by Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute Of Science and Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on May 20, for 'adaptive ai-assisted smart neuro-rehabilitation and finger recovery prediction system.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. M. Muthalakshmi; V Rosenika; A S Simi Benjamin; and E Bhavatharani.
The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses an adaptive AI-assisted smart neuro-rehabilitation and finger recovery prediction system for rehabilitation of post-stroke patients and individuals with neuromuscular impairments. The system comprises a wearable rehabilitation assembly integrated with multiple motion sensing units configured to continuously monitor finger movement characteristics including bending, coordination, motion synchronization, and rehabilitation activity patterns. An embedded control unit processes the acquired rehabilitation signals and transmits the data to an artificial intelligence-assisted rehabilitation engine configured to analyse motor impairment conditions, rehabilitation progression trends, and movement abnormalities. The system further incorporates a recovery prediction module configured to estimate neuro-motor recovery progression using historical rehabilitation behaviour and coordinated finger analytics. A closed-loop rehabilitation mechanism dynamically modifies rehabilitation exercises and therapy parameters according to real-time patient performance. The invention provides a compact, intelligent, low-cost, portable, and home-deployable neuro-rehabilitation platform suitable for personalized rehabilitation and remote therapeutic monitoring."
