MUMBAI, India, Nov. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531018750 A) filed by Siksha O Anusandhan, Bhubaneswar, Orissa, on March 3, for 'adaptable infant sitting assistive device for wheelchairs.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Rima Sahani.
The application for the patent was published on Nov. 28, under issue no. 48/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An adaptable infant sitting assistive device for wheelchairs comprises of a circular platform 101 positioned near wheelchair via a pair of extendable rods 102, an ultrasonic sensor is embedded in the platform 101 for determining dimensions of a fixed support of the wheelchair, a motorized clipper 103 installed on each rod 102 to grip the supports, a L-shaped body 104 is installed on the platform 101 to accommodate an infant, an inflatable member installed in the platform 101 for providing a comfortable accommodation to the infant, an imaging unit 105 to determine dimensions of the infant, a motion sensor embedded in the platform 101 for monitoring movement of the infant on the platform 101, a primary and secondary pair of extendable curved plates 106 installed with the plates 106 to hold the infant, a microphone 107 for user input regarding swinging of the infant."
