MUMBAI, India, Nov. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411024904 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 27, 2024, for 'adaptable engine oil pan maintenance assistive device.'

Inventor(s) include Vinay Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 7, under issue no. 45/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An adaptable engine oil pan maintenance assistive device, comprises of a cylindrical body 1 developed to be positioned in proximity to oil pan of a vehicle's engine, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 2 for capturing and processing multiple images in vicinity of the body 1 in order to determine position of an oil drain plug, a robotic arm 3 to acquire a grip of the plug, a telescopically operated rod 4 for positioning an optical sensor, an electronically controlled nozzle 6 by means of a conduit to dispense a cleaning solution, a robotic link 9 for positioning hose of the suction pump 8, a suction pump 8 for extracting remaining residues from the oil pan, a waste container 10 for collecting remaining residues from the oil pan, an air blower 11 to provide a pressurized blow of air in the pan."
