MUMBAI, India, Nov. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411025449 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 28, 2024, for 'adaptable crankshaft timing gear removal assistive device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An adaptable crankshaft timing gear removal assistive device, comprising a cylindrical body 1 fabricated with a T-shaped handle 2, the handle 2 is accessed by a user to position the body 1 in proximity to a timing gear in a crankshaft, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 3 determine dimensions of the timing gear, a motorized pulley arrangement 4 arranged in the body 1 for increasing/decreasing dimensions of the body 1, a LiDAR determines distance of teeth of the timing gear from the body 1, plurality of telescopically operated links 5 positions a L-shaped pin integrated on each of the links 5 between the teeth of the gear for engaging the pins on the gear, and an electromagnetic spring 6 exerts pulling force on the spring 6."
