MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411024023 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 26, 2024, for 'adaptable coconut tree climbing assistive device.'

Inventor(s) include Somvir Singh.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An adaptable coconut tree climbing assistive device, comprise of a frame 1 developed to be engaged around a coconut tree on which climbing is to be performed, an imaging unit 2 to detect dimensions of the coconut tree's trunk, a primary and secondary curved members 3, 4 aligned in contact with trunk installed with extendable flaps 5 to engage ends of flaps 5 with bumps on trunk, a plate 6 configured with a plank 7 accessed by a user to attain seat over the frame 1, an angle sensor to monitor angle of plates 6 for detecting bumps of trunk, a microphone accessed by the user to provide voice commands regarding height of trunk to be climbed, a hydraulically operated rod 8 to extend and apply a force in the member in an upward direction and the rod 8 to retract for translating the frame 1 upto user-defined height."
