MUMBAI, India, Nov. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531024839 A) filed by Siksha O Anusandhan, Bhubaneswar, Orissa, on March 19, for 'adaptable cargo bed extending device.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Bhabani Sankar Mohanto.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 28, under issue no. 48/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An adaptable cargo bed extending device, comprises of an extendable platform 101 attached to the tailgate of a load-carrying vehicle by suction units 102 beneath the platform 101, which create a negative pressure to affix the platform 101 with the tailgate, an imaging unit 103 and synced with a laser sensor to capture and process images of objects on the cargo bed, with a microcontroller determining the dimensions of the objects, a motorized drawer arrangement 104 integrated with the platform 101 to extend it according to the detected dimensions, extendable rods 105 installed on the periphery of the platform 101 that are actuated to create a boundary around the accommodated object, a speaker 107 produce a voice command when the weight of the object exceeds a threshold value, the system includes electromagnets beneath the platform 101 and hooks 106 to attach a tonneau cover for added security during transit."
