MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411022914 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 23, 2024, for 'adaptable bonsai plant maintenance device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An adaptable bonsai plant maintenance device, comprising a semi-circular frame 1 engaged on rim of a pot planted with a bonsai plant, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 2 determines dimensions of pot's rim and accordingly a drawer arrangement extend/retract for properly engaging frame 1, a touch interactive display panel 3 accessed by a user for providing input regarding a user-desired shape of plant, an ultrasonic sensor determines height of plant, a telescopically operated rod 5 extends to position multiple suction cups 4 in contact with branch to provide support to branch, plurality of motorized hinges 6 bends rod 5 for attaining user-specified shape of plant, two extendable sliding units 7 gets positioned around leaves to be trimmed by a telescopically operated bar 8, and a motorized hinge joint converges sliding units 7 to encircle portion of plant, a rotatable cutter 9 trims leaves."
