MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631043548 A) filed by Dr. Sudhir Chandra Sur Institute Of Technology And Sports Complex, Kolkata, West Bengal, on April 6, for '"active vortex generator system for vehicle aerodynamic lift force reduction".'
Inventor(s) include Kalyan Mukherjee; Shankha Ghosh; Dr. Hrishiraj Ranjan; and Dr. Saradindu Panda.
The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An active vortex generator system that cuts lift on fast-moving vehicles. A small electromechanical generator sits on the roof and pop up when needed. Sensors feed data on speed, acceleration, and conditions to a controller that decides when to deploy them. The generators mess with the airflow over the top of the vehicle, which lowers the pressure difference that causes lift. Better tire grip, more stable handling, safer at speed. Lift drops by 35-60% with barely any drag penalty-less than 0.015 added to the drag coefficient. Since it adapts on the fly, you get the performance when you need it without hurting fuel economy the rest of the time. Works for regular cars, race cars, anything that needs to stay planted at high speeds without adding the weight and drag of fixed wings or splitters."
