MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511123203 A) filed by Dharamveer Singh; and Aakersh Chauhan, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Dec. 6, 2025, for 'active conical basin type solar desalination system.'
Inventor(s) include Dharamveer Singh; and Aakersh Chauhan.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an active conical basin type solar desalination system designed to enhance freshwater production through improved thermal efficiency and geometric optimization. The system comprises a conical evaporation basin, a transparent conical cover, an active solar-powered heating mechanism, and an insulated base. Sunlight enters through the transparent cover, heating the saline water and generating vapor, while the internal heating element further accelerates evaporation. The vapor condenses on the inner surface of the conical cover and flows downward into a circular condensate channel for collection through a freshwater outlet. The conical geometry increases solar incidence, improves heat retention, and enhances distillate yield compared to conventional flat-basin solar stills. The invention provides a compact, energy-efficient, and high-performance solution for decentralized potable water production."
