MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411074693 A) filed by Hyundai Motor Company; and Kia Corporation, Seoul, Republic of Korea, on Oct. 3, 2024, for 'accoustic signal controlled smart sunroof to auto set glass position.'

Inventor(s) include Shanmugam, Ravi Kumar; Varadharajen, Logeswaran; and Kulandaisamy, Renuka Devi.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a system and method for preferred glass open position in a vehicle based on acoustic signals comprising an ASC mode switch on a steering wheel and a multimedia audio set to "Auto OFF" to receive command signal, wherein, upon receipt of acoustic signal an unidirectional MIC checks pre-defined acoustic signal parameters and upon detection of appropriate acoustic signal checks the signal from hall sensor for determining the glass position."
