According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Addressing the growing concerns about road safety, especially for two-wheeler riders, the "Accident Detection for Road Safety Using Smart Helmet" project presents an innovative solution that integrates real-time monitoring, sensor technologies, and loT connectivity. This smart helmet is designed to detect accidents automatically by monitoringthe rider's head movements, impacts, and surrounding conditions. Equipped with sensors like accelerometers and gyroscopes, along with a GPS module, the hdmet continuously tracks the rider's motion and precise location. Upon detecting sudden impacts or abnormal behaviour, the system immediately processes the data and sends emergency alerts to predefined contacts or control centers via the ToT module. The helmet not only provides real-time accident detection but also stores critical data locally, including timestamps, sensor logs, and GPS coordinates. This data can later be used for accident investigation or forensic purposes. The microcontroller manages all operations autonomously, enabling continuous operation without human intervention. Designed to promote safe driving, the system includes audio-visual alerts like buzzers and LED indicators to warn the rider and nearby individuals instantly when a dangerous situation occurs. Its rechargeable battery supports extended operation, ensuring long rides remain fully monitored without interruptions. With loT technology, the helmet allows remote monitoring and control, providing an efficient and scalable solution to enhance road safety. This project aims to significantly reduce emergency response time, improve accident reporting accuracy, and ultimately protect riders on the road. M ACCIDENT DETECTION FOR ROAD SAFETY USING SMART HELMET WE CLAIM This invention comprises an Accident Detection System for Road Safety Using Smart Helmet, designed to improve rider safety by detecting accidents and sending immediate alerts in real time. 1. Using state-of-the-art technologies, the system introduces a smart helmet capable of monitoring rider behaviour and road conditions, providing rapid accident detection without human intervention. It aims to reduce response time during emergencies 2. The Microcontroller (ESP32 I Arduino) serves as the brain of the system. It collects and processes real-time data from sensors like accelerometer, gyroscope, and GPS, and runs accident detection algorithms to trigger alerts automatically. 3. The GPS Module provides continuous location tracking, enabling precise identification of the rider's position. It sends real-time coordinates to emergency contacts when an accident is detected, allowing for swift assistance. 4. The Accelerometer and Gyroscope Sensors detect sudden impacts or abnormal head movements. Upon detecting an unusual shift in motion, they trigger the accident detection system to act immediately. 5. The loT Module transmits critical data, including accident alerts and GPS coordinates, to cloud servers or emergency contacts via Wi-Fi or GSM networks. This enables remote monitoring and rapid intervention. 6. The Memory Card stores essential data such as timestamps, sensor readings, and location logs. This ensures that the incident details are preserved for later analysis or forensic use."
