MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511115525 A) filed by Nims University, Jaipur, Rajasthan, on Nov. 22, 2025, for 'absorbent article with zonal fluid collection.'
Inventor(s) include Vaibhav Tamrakar; Akshat Pratap Singh; and Gayatri Panday.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A diagnostic sanitary absorbent system (100) configured for simultaneous hygienic fluid management and diagnostic analysis of vaginal fluid. The system (100) comprises a liquid-permeable top sheet (101) forming a body-facing surface, a liquid-impermeable back sheet (102) forming a garment-facing surface, and an absorbent core (103) disposed therebetween. A zonal fluid handling arrangement (104) defines a plurality of fluid acquisition zones (104a), each corresponding to a different anatomical region, and associated zonal channels (105) direct fluid into distinct zonal collection areas (105a). Inter-zonal barriers (106) substantially prevent lateral fluid migration, thereby preserving isolation of samples within each zone. One or more diagnostic elements (107) are integrated or operatively associated with collection areas (105a), wherein said diagnostic element comprises a chemical indicator (107a) for visible analyte detection or an electronic sensor (107b) for signal generation. A corresponding method (200) enables collection and zonal analysis of vaginal fluid for diagnostic applications."
