MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517048749 A) filed by Unicharm Corporation, Shikokuchuo, Japan, on May 20, for 'absorbent article.'

Inventor(s) include Nomoto, Takashi; Kimura, Akihiro; Detani, Ko; Noguchi, Atsushi; and Etoh, Yumi.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An absorbent article (1) comprises an absorption layer (10). The absorption layer (10) is made of either a nonwoven cloth having void spaces formed by a plurality of fibers or a polymeric foam having a plurality of holes. When the weight of a crotch region prior to absorption of distilled water is defined as pre-absorption weight, the weight of the crotch region after the crotch region has been immersed in distilled water for 60 seconds and taken out of the distilled water and hung for 90 seconds is defined as post-absorption weight, and the value obtained by subtracting the pre-absorption weight from the post-absorption weight is defined as absorption weight, the value obtained by dividing the absorption weight by the pre-absorption weight is 5 or more. When the absorption layer (10) is trisected in the thickness direction into regions in which a region closest to the skin side is defined as a skin-side region, a region closest to the non-skin side is defined as a non-skin-side region, and a region between the skin-side region and the non-skin-side region is defined as an intermediate region, the narrowness of the void spaces or holes in the non-skin-side region is narrower than that in the skin-side region. The bending hysteresis 2HB of the crotch region according to the KES method is at most 3.5 gf cm2/cm."
