MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641062287 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on May 16, for 'a wearable system for personalized acoustic monitoring and time-based alert escalation.'
Inventor(s) include Sujatha R; Dhrub Kumar Garg; Mayank Kumar Dubey; and Arushi Pahuja.
The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A wearable system for personalized acoustic monitoring and time-based alert escalation is disclosed. The system comprises an acoustic sensor (101) configured to capture ambient sound signals and a microcontroller unit (105) configured to process the signals and determine corresponding sound levels. A display module (102) provides real-time visual feedback indicative of the detected sound levels. An audio output unit (103) and a vibration motor (104) are configured to provide multi-modal intervention when the detected sound level exceeds a user-specific trigger threshold. The system further includes a learning mechanism configured to store the user-specific trigger threshold based on a user-initiated input corresponding to a detected sound level. A persistence-based monitoring mechanism evaluates the duration of exposure to sound levels exceeding the threshold and generates staged alerts, including an initial alert and a critical alert, based on predefined time durations, thereby enabling adaptive and user-specific acoustic monitoring and response."
