MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511133841 A) filed by Vivekananda Global University, Jaipur, Rajasthan, on Dec. 30, 2025, for 'a wearable optical text recognition and speech output system embedded in eyeglasses for blind reading assistance.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an intelligent wearable assistive system designed to enable blind and visually impaired individuals to read printed text independently. The proposed system is embedded within a pair of eyeglasses and integrates an optical image capture unit, an optical character recognition (OCR) module, and a speech synthesis unit. The system captures printed text from books or documents in real time, converts the visual content into machine-readable text, and outputs the corresponding audio through an integrated speaker or earphone interface. The invention provides hands-free operation, real-time feedback, portability, and accessibility without reliance on external computing devices. This system significantly enhances reading independence, educational access, and quality of life for visually impaired users."
