MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421038325 A) filed by Kherde, Atul Madhusudan, Pune, Maharashtra, on May 15, 2024, for 'a wearable device for the passive movement of a foot.'

Inventor(s) include Kherde, Atul Madhusudan; and Gosavi, Shilpa Nandkishor.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 21, under issue no. 47/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure envisages a wearable device (100) for facilitating the passive movement of a user's foot. The device (100) comprises a sole element (105) configured to support and secure the user's foot, a fixed member (110) hingeably connected to the sole element (105) and configured to be secured to a lower portion of the leg, and a connecting means (115) defining an ankle joint axis to allow angular movement of the sole element (105) relative to the fixed member (110). A prime mover (130) is mounted on the fixed member (110), and has an output shaft connected to a transmission assembly that drives the angular movement of the sole element (105) about the ankle joint axis. Activation of the prime mover (130) causes oscillatory dorsiflexion and plantarflexion of the foot, thereby producing passive foot movement within a defined range of motion to aid venous return."
