MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641025744 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on March 5, for 'a video-based system and method for foot-pressure estimation using sole deformation analysis.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Sathya Siva; and Deepak Nallaswamy Veeraiyan.

The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention discloses a foot-pressure estimation system that utilizes video capture of a foot placed on a deformable surface and processes the visual data to estimate plantar pressure distribution. A video camera records sole deformation during stance or movement, and a video processing module analyzes deformation patterns to generate a pressure map representing low, moderate, and high pressure regions of the foot. The estimated pressure data are displayed on a monitor for assessment and rehabilitation guidance. The system provides a non-invasive and sensor-free alternative to conventional pressure-sensor platforms for clinical and home-based use."
