MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641016774 A) filed by M/S Rasendra Rasashala, Hyderabad, Telangana, on Feb. 16, for 'a vertical sand furnace for manufacturing a mercurial compound.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Viswanadha Ramakrishna.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A vertical sand furnace for manufacturing a mercurial compound is disclosed comprising an outer chamber enclosing an inner chamber. A glass bottle containing raw materials is positioned within the inner chamber, creating a sand-filled first gap. The inner chamber encapsulates a certain portion of the glass bottle while exposing a remainder part. A heating element raises the temperature of the inner chamber, while an insulation between the outer chamber and the inner chamber attenuates heat transfer. A removable shell is attached to the top of the inner chamber, encapsulating the remainder of the glass bottle and creating a sand-filled second gap while keeping an opening exposed. A sensor detects the inner chamber temperature, and a controller regulates the heating element to gradually increase heat. The removable shell is detached after the raw materials are semi-processed during the manufacturing of the mercurial compound."
