MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411006509 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 31, 2024, for 'a vehcile safety system and a method thereof.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a vehicle safety system, comprising plurality of Internet of Things (IoT) units (102) strategically positioned on a vehicle, each of plurality of IoT units (102) comprises one or more sensors for detecting the presence and distance of surrounding vehicles in respective blind spots and adjacent lanes, a communication module (104) for transmitting and receiving data with other IoT units (102), a processing unit (106) operatively connected to the IoT unit to receive and analyse sensor data from the IoT units (102), the processing unit (106) calculates safe potential risks based on traffic conditions, and generating real-time information and warnings for the driver. Further, a driver interface (110) coupled with processing unit (106) for visually and/or audibly presenting real-time information about surrounding vehicles and issuing warnings to the driver, preferably through visual displays for providing audible alerts and safety instructions."
