MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311085879 A) filed by Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., New Delhi, on Dec. 15, 2023, for 'a trim panel assembly for a vehicle.'

Inventor(s) include Nalinikanta Biswal; Vikas Bisht; Sreejith MP; Lokesh Khandelwal; and Anirudh Chawla.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a trim panel assembly for a vehicle. The trim panel assembly includes an upper rear trim panel (2) and a lower rear trim panel (3). The upper rear trim panel (2) is connected to the lower rear trim panel (3) through a plurality of snap-fits. The trim panel assembly further includes at least one doghouse (8) attached to an outer surface (6) of the upper rear trim panel (2) and extended toward the lower rear trim panel (3). The doghouse (8) is defined with at least one slot (10) configured to receive a snap lock (12) of the lower rear trim panel (3), to connect the upper rear trim panel (2) with the lower rear trim panel (3). The doghouse (8) integrated with snap-fits mounting helps in securely retain the upper rear trim panel (2) with the lower rear trim panel (3)."
