MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202414001757 A) filed by Sangeeth Raj, Fatehgarh, Uttar Pradesh, on Jan. 10, 2024, for 'atraumatic and multipurpose suction catheter for critical care patients.'

Inventor(s) include Sangeeth Raj.

The application for the patent was published on July 25, under issue no. 30/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Development of a suction catheter which ensure atraumatic suction is essential for tracheal care of intubated patients on mechanical ventilation and tracheostomised patients on long term oxygen therapy. This will assist in better patient care and early extubation. Proposed novel suction catheter is with the following parts viz 1. Atraumatic rounded and closed tip in a suction catheter 2. Multiple side fenestrations in a suction catheter 3. Introduction of a 3 way stop cock like assembly in a suction catheter which will facilitate easy flushing and sampling of tracheal aspirate in a most sterile technique . Thus this novel suction catheter can improve patient care, early recovery and easy sampling."
