MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411076041 A) filed by Shoolini University Of Biotechnology And Management Sciences, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, on Oct. 8, 2024, for 'a ternary heretojunction photocatalyst and process for preparing the same.'
Inventor(s) include Anita Sudhaik; Priya Drashni; Pankaj Raizada; and Pardeep Singh.
The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention introduces a ternary heterojunction photocatalyst composed of g-C3N4, V2O5,Al2O3 designed for efficient environmental remediation. Furthermre, the g-C3N4/V2O5/Al2O3 photocatalyst demonstrates exceptional 10 photocatalytic performance, achieving 85% degradation of methylene blue dye under visible light within one hour. The photocatalyst features a band gap of 2.0- 2.12 eV, optimizing its visible light absorption. Characterization through X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) confirms the successful formation of the heterojunction with key active sites for photocatalysis. In overall, this 15 photocatalyst is a promising solution for tackling various environmental challenges due to its high efficiency, stability, and environmental safety."
