MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311085589 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 14, 2023, for 'a system for tackling emergencies in an autonomous vehicle.'

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A system for tackling emergencies in an autonomous vehicle includes a driver seat assembly (102) comprising a seat belt (102-1) with an adaptive button assembly (104) integrated with a webbing of the seat belt, The adaptive button assembly (104) functions both as an emergency button assembly as well as a means to alert the driver of the vehicle to alert him of emergency. Adaptive button assembly (104) includes a vibrator to provide a pulsed signal to the driver to alert him of an emergency, and a pressure sensor (104-1), which, when pressed, gives a signal to a control unit (120) of the system (100) to actuate a mechanism of the driver seat (102-2) to move the driver seat (102-2) to a relaxed mode to a driving mode. Location of the emergency button assembly on the webbing of the seat belt (102-1) enables quick access to the emergency button assembly."
