MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611002020 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Jan. 8, for 'a system for intelligent power management in computer monitors using human presence detection.'

Inventor(s) include Chetan Suri.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a system (100) for intelligent power management in computer monitors using human presence detection. The system (100) includes an embedded low-power camera module (102), an AI-based human presence detection unit (104), a microcontroller unit (106), and a power management circuit (108). The camera module (102) continuously monitors the viewing area, and the AI unit (104) determines human presence, filtering false positives. The MCU (106) controls the PMC (108) to switch monitor components ON or OFF, keeping the detection subsystem active at low power ( 1 W) when absent. Auxiliary sensors (110) adjust brightness and proximity. The system (100) enables instant display reactivation ( 1 s), reduces idle power consumption by up to 60%, extends monitor life, and supports green computing initiatives."
