MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411071309 A) filed by Amity University, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Sept. 20, 2024, for 'a system for generating green hydrogen using self-generated clean energy from wastewater and method thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Uttam Gupta; Nitesh Kumar; Rupesh Kumar Basniwal; Vinod Kumar Jain; and Abhishek Verma.

The application for the patent was published on April 10, under issue no. 15/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a system for generating green hydrogen using self-generated clean energy from wastewater and a method thereof. 7 The present invention offers an innovative solution to two of the most pressing global challenges- clean energy production and wastewater treatment. By integrating wastewater-powered energy generation with water-splitting technology, the system provides a sustainable, self-sufficient method for producing green hydrogen and oxygen gases while simultaneously purifying wastewater. This invention holds significant potential for reducing environmental impact and advancing renewable 14 energy technologies."
