MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641051545 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on April 22, for 'a system for edge-based multimodal disaster analysis with temporal attention and adaptive model selection.'
Inventor(s) include Balakrushna Tripathy; Chirag S Das; Nitin S; Anmol Rajiv Sheth; and R. S. Madheswar.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a system (100) for multimodal data processing on an edge computing device. The system (100) comprises an input module configured to receive textual data, image data, and metadata, and an encoding module configured to generate feature representations from the received data. A fusion module is configured to combine the feature representations using a temporal attention mechanism with time-dependent decay parameters. A classification module processes the fused representation to generate output probabilities. An uncertainty evaluation module computes a reliability measure based on variability across multiple stochastic forward passes and entropy of output probabilities. A model selection module is configured to select one among a plurality of model variants based on operational parameters. The system (100) further comprises a coordination module configured to aggregate outputs from multiple processing components."
