MUMBAI, India, Aug. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421011538 A) filed by G. H. Raisoni College Of Engineering; and G. H. R. Labs And Research Centre, Nagpur, Maharashtra, on Feb. 19, 2024, for 'a system for ear biometrics authentication.'
Inventor(s) include Nagarale, Niraj; Kapgate, Payal Abhimanyu; Patle, Garima Hitesh; Sherje, Riya Rajesh; Sawarkar, Mitali Nilesh; and Mahajan, Vaishnavi Vijay.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 22, under issue no. 34/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention is related to a system for ear biometrics authentication. In the digital age, robust security measures are essential. This invention introduces an innovative ear biometrics authentication system, leveraging deep learning techniques for enhanced accuracy and reliability. Illustrated in, the system begins with capturing an ear image (101) from the user. This image undergoes preprocessing (102) to enhance quality and consistency. Subsequently, a machine learning convolutional neural network (CNN) (103) extracts intricate features from the preprocessed image. Finally, the system outputs (104) the authentication result, determining whether the captured ear image matches stored templates. This system offers a non-intrusive and highly effective method for user identification and authentication. By harnessing the unique characteristics of the human ear, it overcomes limitations of traditional biometric modalities, ensuring low error rates and high security levels in various applications."
