MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521130880 A) filed by Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune, Maharashtra, on Dec. 23, 2025, for 'a system for controlling and monitoring orthodontic procedures.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses an orthodontic analysis system featuring nanochip-enabled brackets that communicate with specialized modules to control tooth movement, including space closure and alignment. The said system allows remote monitoring and digital control of tooth movement via an external application. It includes roller brackets for aligning teeth post-canine exposure, a molar band with a sensor to prevent anchorage loss, and an electronically aided maxillary expansion device (EAMED) for controlled expansion. The system tracks arch space, adjusts treatment time, and enhances precision through continuous digital communication, providing a more efficient and adaptable orthodontic analysis process."
