MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641007481 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Jan. 26, for 'a system for autonomous edge-controlled locker and cloakroom management.'
Inventor(s) include Rampriya R S; Akash K; Arvind S; and Roshan Priyan V S.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a smart cloakroom management system (100) for secure and autonomous management of physical lockers in institutional environments. The system (100) comprises a user interface layer (110) including a mobile/web application (111) and an admin dashboard (112), a cloud layer (120) comprising a federated learning server (121) and a cloud backend/analytics platform (122), and an edge layer (130) comprising one or more locker zones (131) controlled by an edge device (132). Each locker zone (131) includes a plurality of smart lockers (133) having an electronic lock (134), a load/weight sensor (135), a motion sensor (136), a magnetic door sensor (137), and an LED/buzzer (138). The edge device (132) executes real-time access control, deterministic locker state management, and local predictive intelligence, while the cloud layer (120) performs federated model aggregation without receiving raw user data. The system enables low-latency, privacy-preserving, and offline-capable locker management."
