MUMBAI, India, Jan. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511103278 A) filed by Graphic Era, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on Oct. 27, 2025, for 'a system and method for subsurface irrigation using galvanized iron pipes.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Nitin Mishra; Amit Kumar Sharma; and Sandeep Kunwar.

The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention pertains to a subsurface irrigation system and method, particularly employing galvanized iron pipes (100) installed horizontally at a shallow depth of approximately 10 cm below the soil surface. The pipes, featuring perforations (102) spaced at regular intervals, are connected via secure couplings (105) to a main water feedline (104) drawn from a regulated water source. A plurality of branch lateral pipes (106), also provided with perforations (107), extend from the main line to enable uniform water distribution, while control valves (108) regulate water pressure and flow. An optional filtration unit (110) upstream filters out particulates, thereby ensuring efficient operation. This robust, corrosion-resistant system is designed for optimal water delivery and layout-specific irrigation in various agricultural settings."
