MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641063586 A) filed by Meenakshi Academy Of Higher Education And Research, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on May 20, for 'a system and method for smart surgical assistance and operation theater support system.'
Inventor(s) include Sai Sujeeth Kumar; Manoj Priyan Chockalingam; Logeswari J; Srimathi N; and Mahesh Kumar P G.
The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a system and method for providing smart surgical assistance and operation theatre support through predictive cognitive orchestration, dynamic sterile-zone intelligence, autonomous robotic coordination and adaptive intraoperative risk forecasting. The system includes a processor, memory, multi-modal sensing infrastructure, surgical workflow intelligence engine, dynamic sterile-zone digital twin engine, autonomous surgical instrument anticipation module, cognitive fatigue and stress estimation engine, environmental intelligence engine and operation theater orchestration controller. The system produces predictive surgical intelligence outputs by retrieving intraoperative data in real-time that is associated with patient physiological parameters, imaging streams, environmental conditions, surgeon interaction behavior, robotic movement trajectories, and instrument utilization patterns. The system predicts procedural transitions dynamically, autonomously coordinates robotic instrument delivery systems, predicts contamination-risk conditions and intraoperative complications, and generates real-time surgical decision support recommendations. The present disclosure further optimizes sterilization management of operation theatre infrastructure robotic assistance co-ordination and environmental stabilization for improving surgical precision contamination prevention procedural efficiency and patient safety."
