MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641063582 A) filed by Meenakshi Academy Of Higher Education And Research, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on May 20, for 'a system and method for smart rehabilitation monitoring and physiotherapy assistance system.'

Inventor(s) include Aravindasamy S; Hiemesh Babu R; Thephilah Cathrine R; Nishaa Bharathi M; and Miraculine Devadarshini P.

The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A System and Method for Smart Rehabilitation Monitoring and Physiotherapy Assistance System The present disclosure relates to a system and method for smart rehabilitation monitoring and adaptive physiotherapy assistance using multi-modal physiological and biomechanical intelligence. The system includes a multi-modal sensor acquisition module, a processor, a biomechanical digital twin generation module, a neuromuscular synchronization intelligence module, a predictive micro-fatigue analysis engine, an adaptive therapy orchestration framework, and a rehabilitation deviation correction engine. The system continuously receives rehabilitation-related data, such as muscular activation characteristics, skeletal movement trajectories, posture stability information, and physiological recovery indicators associated with a user undergoing physiotherapy activities. The processor develops a patient-specific biomechanical digital twin for dynamic simulation of rehabilitation progress and therapeutic recovery behavior. The system can also predict muscular fatigue, rehabilitation stress accumulation, injury recurrence probabilities, and movement abnormalities, and automatically generate corrective rehabilitation guidance and adaptive therapy optimization instructions. Therefore, the present disclosure improves rehabilitation accuracy, therapy personalization, patient safety, and long-term recovery efficiency."
