MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541133538 A) filed by Meenakshi Academy Of Higher Education And Research, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 30, 2025, for 'a system and method for smart rehabilitation and physiotherapy tracking using sensors.'

Inventor(s) include Parthasarathi R; Mahesh Kumar PG; Rajesh R; and Deepa Sundareswaran.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A System and Method for Smart Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy Tracking Using Sensors This disclosure relates to a system and a method for providing smart rehabilitation and physiotherapy tracking through sensing. The system includes a multimodal sensing module designed to gather motion, muscular, and physiological information from a user; an AI-based digital twin processor designed to develop a biomechanical model, and examine the user's motion for deviation from optimal motion trajectories; an adaptive feedback interface designed to give haptic, visual, or auditory corrective cues; a therapy analytics and learning module designed to incorporate federated learning and predictive analysis; and a clinician control interface for reviewing patient progress and recovery. The method allows for the assessment of motion in real-time, adaptive feedback to be provided to one or more users, and secure data to be utilized utilizing blockchain technologies. The invention provides a technical advancement based upon intelligent sensor fusion, blockchain-utilizing analytics, and AI-supported digital twin modeled human movement. The overall savings in therapeutic precision, personalized design, and speed of recovery all can be improved while ensuring protected privacy for the user in physiotherapy and rehabilitation."
