MUMBAI, India, March 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421068994 A) filed by Upl Ltd., Maharashtra, on Sept. 12, 2024, for 'a system and method for safe generation of phosphine gas.'

Inventor(s) include Pushpaksen P. Asher.

The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a system (10) and for safe generation of phosphine gas. The present invention also relates to a process for generating phosphine gas in the presence of CO2 for limited period. The system includes a reaction pot (12) configured to receive metal phosphide (14) and water as an input. The metal phosphide (14) and water react to generate 10 phosphine gas. Further, the system includes an air compressor (18) fluidly coupled to the reaction pot. The air compressor is configured to supply pressurized air to the reaction pot to agitate the mixture of metal phosphide (14) and water. Furthermore, the system includes a carbon dioxide supply unit (40) fluidly coupled to the reaction pot and configured to supply carbon dioxide gas to the reaction pot to maintain phosphine gas concentration below 5000 15 ppm to prevent fire hazard."
