MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511116724 A) filed by Graphic Era, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on Nov. 25, 2025, for 'a system and method for pothole repair using recycled crumb rubber-based bitumen composition.'

Inventor(s) include Khushboo Uniyal; and Amit Srivastava.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a composite material system for stabilizing black cotton soil (10) using recycled plastic granules (12) present at about 4-6% by dry weight. The method involves pre-conditioning the soil via drying and spreading it into a uniform layer, mechanically blending in the plastic granules (12) to ensure homogeneous dispersion, and subsequently compacting the mixture to achieve optimum dry density. The plastic granules (12) interrupt the continuous clay framework of the soil (10) to form an interlocking network that enhances stability. This controlled mixing and compaction procedure, conducted in sequential layers, renders the composite material suitable for advanced applications in subgrades, shallow foundations, embankments, slopes, and urban development."
